Lavalier Pendants These are originally from the Victorian era the turn of the 20th Century. These delicate pendants usually end with a dangling single gem, typically a pearl or diamond. Sometimes called a "Y" necklace, these pendants are attached to a fine chain without a bail. Lavalier pendants are characterized by delicate filagree work with a feminine, floral motif. They are sweet and detailed often with delicate seed pearls. They are named after Duchess Louise de la Valliere in the late 17th Century. This style was revitalized by French actress Eve Lavalliere in the late 1800s. Her stage name came about as a result of her wearing this style pendant.
